On Monday, May 19th, the Switzerland-Tanzania Chamber of Commerce (STCC)had the great privilege of hosting its annual flagship event on the theme:
“Navigating Disputes: How Arbitration Can Empower Swiss Investment in Tanzania.”
This high-level gathering brought together distinguished speakers from both Switzerland and Tanzania — including Bernd Ehle Augustin Barrier Madeline Kimei- FCIArb, FTIArb Advocate Magreth Magoma Antonia Kilama Dr. Jacktone Koyugi (Ph.D) David Kakwaya Zahra Maruma @Benoit Araman (Managing Director of STCC founding member Oryx Energies) Dr. Beatrice Mushi (Director of Operation of STCC founding member DUKU TELECOMS AND ELECTRONICS) @H.E. Nicole Providoli (Ambassador of Switzerland to Tanzania) and Matthieu Rochat (Executive Director of STCC) — who shared their insights on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Our objective?
To demonstrate that arbitration isn’t just a technical topic for legal professionals — it’s a strategic business tool for any Swiss company looking to expand internationally.
As keynote speaker Dr. Bernd Ehle powerfully reminded us:
“A legal dispute isn’t a failure — it’s a normal part of doing business. It should be anticipated like any other commercial risk.”
A special thank you to H.E. Nicole Providoli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Tanzania, our honorary member, for her warm opening remarks.
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to our three sponsors — LALIVE (STCC Serengeti Member), the ASA – Swiss Arbitration Association, and Oryx Energies (one of our founding members) — for making this event possible!
